WordPad is a word processing program developed by Microsoft Windows. It is found in every version of Windows. It is capable of creating documents with more features than Notepad but less features than MS Word. The extension of WordPad is .rtf (Rich Text Format). In this, formatting tools are available like MS Word.
Quick Access Toolbar: -
It is in the title bar. We use it as a shortcut. Most of
the useful commands are added to this tool bar. With the help of this toolbar,
the work in word pad can be done with little speed.
Title bar: -
The title bar is at the top of the WordPad window. The
name of the file is shown on the title bar. Until we save the file, the
document appears on the title bar. And when we save the file, then it comes by
writing the name with which we save the file. There are three buttons on the
right side of the title bar, Minimize, Restore/Maximize and Close and on the
left side there is a Quick Access Toolbar and WordPad button.
Ribbon: -
The ribbon is below the title bar. All those commands
come under the ribbon. With the help of which we do the formatting and setting
of the file.
Ruler bar: -
There is a Ruler bar below the ribbon and above the test
area. We use this to find the margin of the page.
Status bar: -
The status bar is below the text area. In this bar there
is a tool called zoom level. With the help of which you zoom in and zoom out
the page.
Text Area: -
The largest part of the word pad is called the text area.
In this area we write the text document.
Word pad button: -
New: - New command is used to open a new page.
Open: - To open the already created file in word pad, open
command is used.
Save: - Save command is used to save the currently opened file
in the computer.
Save As: - We also save the file through the Save As command, but
with the help of this command, you can also create another copy of the file.
Print: - You can print the opened file by using this command.
Page setup: - Set the margin of the page before taking out the print
out. So that our matter does not get cut while taking the print out.
Send in Email: - This command is used to mail the currently open file to
any person with the help of Outlook.
About word pad: - During this command, you know about the version of word
pad. And information about who is the user of the operating system is also
available.
Exit: - To close the opened word file, exit command is used.
Home Tab
The Home tab contains all the commands on the Ribbon,
which is divided into five groups. clipboard, Font, Paragraph, Insert, Editing.
Clipboard: - There are three commands cut, copy and paste under the
Clipboard group.
Cut: - Cut command is used to cut the selected test.
Copy: - Copy command is used to copy the selected text. Main
difference between Cut and Copy, when we paste to another place by cutting,
then the cut text disappears from the old place, but on copying, your text
remains in the old place, where you paste He comes there too.
Paste: - Paste command is used to paste the cut or copied text.
Font Group: - Under the Font group, commands related to changing the
font, changing the style to bold are given. Font group contains commands like
Font family, Font size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Subscript,
Superscript, Text highlight color, Font color etc.
Font Family: - Use this command to change the font style of the
selected text.
Font size: - Font size command is used to make the text smaller or
bigger.
Bold: - Bold is used to make the selected text thick.
Italic: - Italic command is used to skew the selected text.
Underline: - Underline command is used to place underline under the
selected text.
Strike through: - Strikethrough command is used to mark the cut in the
middle of the selected text.
Superscript: - Superscript command is used to write text on top of the
text.
Subscript: - Subscript command is used to write text under the text.
Text highlight color: - This command is used to highlight the selected text.
Font color: - Font color is used to change the color of the text.
Paragraph: - 9 commands under Paragraph group, decrease indent,
increase indent, start a list, Line Spacing, Alignment Left, Center, Right,
Justify, and Paragraph.
Increase / Decrease Indent: - With the help of Increase /
Decrease Indent, you can increase or decrease the paragraph like a tab.
Start a List: - For setting Bullet and Numbering, Start a list is used.
Line Spacing: - This command is used to increase or decrease the line
spacing of the selected paragraph.
Lift, Right, Center, Justify Alignment: - With the help
of this command, you can set your text or paragraph according to the alignment.
Insert Group:
- Four commands
(Picture, paint drawing, Date and Time, Insert Object) come under the Insert
Group. With the help of these commands, you can insert external data into this
program.
Picture: - With the help of Picture command, you can insert any
picture in word pad program.
Insert Paint Drawing: - With the help of this command, you can make a drawing in
Paint and insert it in Word pad.
Date and Time: - With the help of this command, you can insert the
current date and time of your computer.
Object: - With the help of this command, you can also insert files
made on other applications in word pad.
Editing Group:
- There are
three commands (Find, Replace, Select all) under this group. With the help of
which you can search, replace or select any text.
View Tab
There are three groups (Zoom, Show or Hide, Setting)
under New Type.
Zoom Group: - There are three commands (Zoom in, Zoom out, 100% Zoom)
under John Group.
Zoom In: - With the help of Zoom in, you can enlarge the page of
your word pad.
Zoom Out: - With the help of Zoom out, you can make the page of your
word pad smaller.
100% Zoom: - With the help of this command you can zoom your page to
100%.
Show or Hide
group: - Two commands
(Ruler and Status bar) come under this group.
Ruler: - Use this command to bring and remove Ruler on the word
pad page.
Status bar: - This command is used to show and hide the status bar.
Setting Group:
- Two commands
(Word wrap and Measurement) come under the group.
Word wrap: - When the line is full, the word wrap command is used to
automatically come to the second line.
No wrap: - With this command highlighted, you cannot come to
another line without pressing enter.
Wrap to window: - It will wrap according to your screen.
Wrap to margin: - Wrap to margin is used to change the line according to
the margin.
Measurement: - With the help of this command you can set your Ruler in
Inch, Centimeter, Points or Pixel.
